Mother's Day 2009

Grampy and Grammy with the kiddos

My mom, Mike and Eric's parents were with us this Mother's Day. We went to First Baptist Church to witness Calista's Baby Dedication and then home for a nice dinner made by Eric. He made yummy stuffed pasta shells and big ol salad. Mom A made a delicious strawberry pie for dessert. My request of course :)

Mom's famous strawberry pie...it's sooooo yummy!

Jack couldn't wait for me to open my present that he made at school! He brought it home the Friday before Mother's Day so he was really anxious for Sunday to come! Inside the bag were 3 handmade items. A large magnet of a flower basket with black flowers (the kid loves to color everything black!) a laminated poem/drawing and the cutest lapel pin made of a puzzle piece covered with jewels and beads. I love them all! (ps-those are earrings hanging from my ear area)

Our little family of four

When I read the poem outloud I have never heard Jack laugh so hard! He thought it was hilarious. Here's what it said:

My Mom

My mom is 30 years old. (thank you son)
She is 31 inches tall and weighs 10 pounds. (I told him I was actually 110 pounds...hehe)
Her job is to go on trips. (love it!!!)
Her favorite food is spaghetti,
but she doesn't like to eat meatballs (roars of laughter because that's Jack not me)
She likes to work all day, (it is a nice escape)
but she doesn't like going on a timeout. (again roars of laughter!)
She is really good at exercising, (is he trying to be funny here?)
but she is not good at basketball. (ok that's true)
She likes to go to the New York River, (NYC baby!)
because she finds a hotel and and takes a rest. (Amen brother!)
But she doesn't like to go to the San Diego jungle.
I saw a dead spider there. (random...)
My mom is the best mom in the world
because she helps me clean up. (helps him or just does it? hmmm)

I got the biggest kick out of him that morning. He's turning into such a big boy I really can't believe it! I love being Jack and Abby's mommy. They are two very fun-loving, caring and affectionate kids and they make me proud. I think I'm doing a pretty good job. They love people, each other and their whole family (as Jack would say). Being a mom is a different adventure every day. Some days are really hard and I wonder if I can do it another day, and some days are so amazing and sweet that I don't want them to end. It's the best and most rewarding job I've ever had. And I do mean job! smile.

Jack and Abby, I love you both as big as the sky!
