How cool is this picture!?I took this at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. I whipped my camera out as fast as I could so it's not the best but I love the awe of the kids and the smile of the dolphin. It's like they're having a little moment. You can barely see but Jack is holding a plush Shuka whale and the dolphin followed it wherever he moved it.
I guess you could say that I sorta force all things of the sea on my kids. A lot of the books we read have to do with creatures in the sea, movies or tv shows we watch and as soon as they're both old enough we're making whale watching an annual family event!
I secretly want one of them to be in this field for a career since I wanted to but never did. If they ended up on a boat tracking patterns of whales I wouldn't be happier! Oceanographer, Marine Biologist or a trainer at Sea World would be great. thanks.
It all started with my mom playing whale songs on a record to my sisters and I that she loaned from the library back when I was in grade school. Then a trip to Marine World to see the trainers with the killer whales and dolphins and I was hooked! Of course any trip to an aquarium is pure delight!
I know I have about a one in a million shot since Jack currently wants to be a spy and Abby isn't quite there yet. We'll see...one can only hope and dream :) Whatever they do I just hope they are happy doing it.
Well... I became a fisheries biologist and I must say it is a fabulous career. And I was inspired by my early visits to aquariums as a kid. I've also done research on a boat out at sea. Definitely awesome. Okay... now you're making me miss my career...
