Halloween costumes!

Our beautiful Princess Snow White
Dee taught Abby how to pose like a real princess
She also showed her how Snow White holds her hands
This is the first year that Abby has picked her own costume. The funny thing about Abby picking Snow White is that she had never even seen the DVD. The movie has been in the Disney vault but was just released this month for the first time in 15 years. So now it's everywhere! Maybe she saw her in some previews or something I'm unaware of but I think it's so sweet that she picked the princess who she resembles the most with her dark hair and all.

On a recent trip to Target with Nana, Abby got a boat load of Snow White stuff! Not only did Nana buy her costume she bought her the Barbie, talking mirror, crown, and shoes! She has been surrounded by Snow White (thank you Nana)! The movie came out on October 6th so I bought it that day and we all watched it. It was a hit!

It's really fun to watch your little girl discover dressing up, jewelry and shoes when all you know is dinosaurs, Legos and Transformers!

Jack being sneaky and spooky
This is the first year in three years that Jack has not fought me on dressing up. Two years ago he was a knight who ended up with just black sweats and a black shirt because he didn't want to wear the shield, helmet, etc.

Last year he was really into Star Wars so I thought he'd want to be Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader or maybe a Storm Trooper. I even took him to Target and told him he could pick anything he wanted. He just said "nope" and that was the end of that! Most of those costumes have masks and you couldn't get that kid to wear a mask to save your life!

He ended up being a basketball player because it was the closest thing to a costume I could get him to wear. He threw on a headband for two minutes so I could get a picture and that was it! That was a really lame costume but at least we had a basketball shaped bag to sort of pull it together.

So imagine my surprise when he asked ME to buy him a skeleton costume! He saw one in the costume magazine and it had a mask. I was so shocked that I went and bought him one the next day just to see if he would really wear it! When he put the mask on and was playing around I just thought to myself "my little boy is growing up." It seems it was just a phase and now he's grown out of it. Thank goodness because it was not fun fighting with him over something so silly.

Trick or Treating should be fun!!

  2. I was surprised too, when I saw him today at school. I had no idea he had outgrown his mask fear. He was so much fun to photograph today, playing in the trees. And Abby makes the sweetest Snow White. Happy Halloween Adamson's!
