Saturday morning we slept in again and took our time getting ready. We stopped at Heidi's for a yummy late breakfast filled with lots of protein and were ready to hike again! As we were driving along the south rim of the lake we noticed there were tons of cars and lots of people looking over the bridge. So we pulled over of course!
Taylor Creek
Where the salmon are spawning right now!
We learned they return to their birthplace when it's time to spawn. From that big lake they return to their birthplace! Amazing! There were thousands of them! Very cool to see :)
We hopped back in the car and found our next hiking spot. It wasn't too far from yesterday's.
My trusty guide leading the way. It was pretty steep but we were told by a few hikers on their way down that it was worth it! I kept thinking the whole time how it would be great to bring the kids here in the spring/summer. I bet Abby would love it, but Jack not so much.
There were several fires and firefighters working on some controlled burning. That was kind of scary. The first viewpoint!
That's Emerald Bay way down there.Second viewpoint! Kind of risky for my taste. But worth it!
We made it to another lake. It was much smaller than yesterdays but there was no one there. Very quiet and peaceful. I love being out in God's creation. It's so inspiring!
The water was freezing! We could see fish from our boulder.
We stayed for a little bit and snacked on beef jerky and nuts.
You can't really tell from this pic but it was all downhill on the way back!
We had dinner in the casino that night at Cabo Wabo and then hit up the comedy club. We usually get free tickets and it's always a good time! We were just enjoying ourselves and kept thinking how it feels like we had so much time! Long weekends are the best! So nice to relax, recharge and reconnect! Can't wait for the next time! I love spending one on one time with my love.
