That was the question when Jack found some eggs in the pool area!
Turns out they were duck eggs!
10 of them!
(we lost 2 eggs before they even hatched. Jack just couldn't keep his paws off of them!)
They day before I left for Haiti 8 little ducklings hopped out of their nest and into the pool for the first time. It was pretty entertaining for the kids. They were super cute and boy was that momma duck protective!
They were good little babies and stayed right by her side.
Turns out while I was gone there were a few casualties. Like 7 to be exact! In my daily emails with Eric they always started out with, "well, we lost another duck today." The kids were holding them, dropping them and probably giving them little heart attacks. We think we lost a few to the cat or other male ducks. Now it's just the momma and her one baby :( I guess she won't be choosing our house for her next birthplace but it was sure exciting for a while!
