3rd Grade Award Ceremony

We got the usual secret letter sent home. It doesn't say what award your child is receiving so you get to be surprised, just like your kid! He knew something was up when he saw me, his dad, AND his grandparents! Jack got the Academic Achievement Award for the first time in 3rd Grade! All A's and B's kind of a big deal. He's struggled all year and we've ALL worked really hard. Which means, I feel like I earned that award too!! 9 out of 24 is impressive and we're so proud of him!

Look at that smile!
Darius, Jonathon, Diana, Matthew, Zaria, Marshall, Lauren, Jaymes and Jack!
Notice the lack of care given to said award. More on that later.
I got an award too, for Outstanding Parent Volunteer! Mr. Mays and Tracey got one also.
It was nice to have Grammy and Grampy there too! They are very proud of him as well. Our principal Mrs. Westerman is retiring this year and she always impressed me with her ability to remember names. When she would see Jack at the crosswalk she'd call him "Jackster." When she would see me on campus she'd say "Hello Mrs. Adamson!" She even knew Abby's name! It's not because our kids get in trouble and have to visit her office. It's not because I cause lots of ruckus and complain a lot. It's because our kids our good students that get noticed and acknowledged by their teachers. I'm one proud mommy.

Right after the ceremony I had just a minute to grab a quick pic of Jack with his award. I mean that tiny piece of folded up paper that Jack handed me. Are you kidding me?! I knew it too! As soon as I went back to my seat after receiving my award I turned to Dee and said, "Shoot, I forgot to get Jack's award! Now it's going to be all wrinkled!" Boy was I right! He just kicked it up a notch! Killing me kid! Mrs. Knox said she would get me a new one. SMH

Jack and Darius with their big proud smiles and silly Marshall in the back!
Moving on to 4th grade with a great end to 3rd!
