For Father's Day Dee and I purchased a Groupon for the NASCAR race in Sonoma. Tickets were half price and we thought it would be really fun to spend the day together. It was a first for Eric and I and actually really fun! We left our house at 7:30AM and all the action started at 11:30. We were so late we missed out on the air show, car introductions and the start of the race! It was so frustrating to think we gave ourselves plenty of time and were so close but ended up bumper to bumper for a good 10 mile stretch! We know next time to leave by 6AM!
Our seats were on turn 7 and that proved to be the most exciting turn of the race! All the action happened there! We loved our seats and the weather was warm but not unbearable. It wasn't as loud as we thought it would be either since they had to decelerate at the turn. Every time they came around was exciting. Of course everyone was cheering to see a crash or spinout.
We were cheering for Jimmy Johnston because that's who Jeff and LeAnn like. Dee loves Jeff Gordon and was rooting for him. The winner of the race was #15 Clint Bowyer. Jimmy came in 5th and Jeff in 6th. It was an exciting race and very entertaining to watch! We'd love to do it again!
