Baseball Camp

Jack was invited by his little buddy Alex to join him for baseball camp for one week this summer. His dad runs it as a free event that is meant to be an outreach. We jumped on the opportunity to introduce Jack to the world of sports (at no charge)! Our first attempt with soccer at age 4 was an uber fail and that cost us $90 bucks!

Here's Jack with Alex (wearing his borrowed baseball pants) I think he looks soooo cute dressed like this and wearing a baseball cap. Such a new look!
Every day from 9-12 the kids had camp. They always started out in the "clubhouse" where Alex's dad Darin would give a talk. He talked about the bible being the "playbook" and the importance of coaches and making good choices. He tied it all in with baseball and did a great job. Notice Jack is looking at me instead of being a good listener!
Here's Jack with his coaches. Coach Logan, Coach Dean (brothers) and Coach Boyd. He LOVED Coach Dean (the youngest). Coach Boyd is Alex's grandpa. Each day they did warm up exercises, played actual games, practiced hitting and catching all the while mixing in little talks and having guests speakers. One day I arrived a little early to pick him up and got to see him get a really good hit! I was so proud and happy I got to be there for that.
Coach Darin introduced a young man who played on the All Star Team and how he loves Jesus and worked really hard to get there.
Gary Wilson from the Tampa Bay Ray's was a guest speaker one day. There were several other pro players throughout the week that I've never heard of and neither has Jack!
Waiting in line for an autograph
This pictures cracks me up! Jack's all up in his business while the poor guy signs his hat! He's wearing a Rockies uniform because his son plays little league and he's one of the coaches.
Jack's in his swim gear because they had a slip n slide for the grand finale of the week! Overall I think Jack had a great experience and he wants to do it again next year! Woohoo!
Thank you Sandlot Ministries!
