Week of Fun-Day 2: State Fair

Going to the State Fair is a tradition for our family. Usually it doesn't start until after the girls leave but they changed the date to open a month earlier so we got to all go! They were super excited-they've never been to the fair before! We also usually go with the Gallardo family so why break tradition? Deanna and I went early with all the kids and Eric and Freddie joined us around 4 when they got off work. We went on Tuesday when kids are free and rides are $1. Oh and we brought Bethany and Robbie along too!

After visiting the newborn animals at "The Farm" and seeing a baby goat just minutes after it was born, we headed over to where the horses were and they let the kids feed them and brush them and even put their handprints on them with paint.

Margaret, Bob, Matt and Grandma Pat joined us too eventually and she grabbed this group shot on the golden bear for me with her iphone. Erik and Colin came for a little bit too and the Sheridan's also! We had a group of 22 by dinnertime!
It was a really nice day for the most part but around 5pm it got really hot! Ashley LOVED the mister fan and just soaked herself to stay cool!
The kids went on some rides but the lines were super long!!
The Jungle and Reptile Experience was pretty cool. We saw all kinds of reptiles and amphibians up close and personal. Abby was not a fan.
Ashley tried to feed this tortoise a potato
Dee always takes a family shot of us at the fair and it's always one of my favorite pictures of our family! The background is so fun and colorful! Love it!!
We split our group so the big kids could go on bigger rides. Bob was great for hopping in line at one ride and saving a spot while the kids were in a different line. Great strategy for such a busy night! We took the little ones on the carousel since they all love that one!

It was c-r-o-w-d-e-d!!
I took this one :)
Isabelle wanted to take a picture of me and I think it turned out pretty good! She's got her mommy's skills!
We all loved the Tilt-A-Whirl! It's one of those rides that's safe for everyone! Brooke was pretty disappointed at all the rides she wasn't tall enough for, so we went on this one lots of times!

Yay! We found a ride that Brooke and Jack were tall enough for and that Bethany would go on! She's not exactly a thrill seeker!
Funny story: After being turned away from a ride for not being tall enough, we went straight to the Midway to play a game. I usually tell the kids NO GAMES! They just take your money and you leave empty handed. But I made an exception and Jack insisted on playing the game where you win a fish. He played last year and brought home "Goldy" who lasted all of 5 days.

After trying and failing he was pretty sad. The couple next to us won 3 fish. He asked for one and they actually gave it to him! I guess it never hurts to ask! That kid has no problem asking anyone! All I hear everywhere we go..."excuse me, can I pet your dog?" ..."excuse me, can I have a refill?" ..."excuse me, can I have your fish!" oh geez!

Look at that charming smile and cute lil face! I think I would of given him one too!
These were our 2 thrill seekers! They wanted to go on anything and everything! Eric and Freddie took the little girls home and put them to bed and Dee and I stayed with the big kids and went on rides with them. Well, some rides. I'm pretty chicken myself these days.
Jack couldn't hang on till the end. Poor little guy pooped out.
These 4 were all pumped full of adrenaline after all those crazy rides!
Super fun times and great memories to last forever!
