We lost a dear friend of the family during the week. We shuffled some things around so Eric and I could attend the funeral and we're so glad we were there. Mike Fetherlin was an amazing husband, father and man who was diagnosed with cancer in April and died in July. His wife Stephanie and I are good friends who worked together at The Bible House in Stockton (almost 20 years ago) and also with leading a small group of high school girls at QLBC.
They are the cream of the crop kinda people! We LOVE them!
I felt so awful for his parents at the funeral. I could barely look at them let alone give them my condolences. They are in their 80's, in poor health and have lost both of their sons. I can't imagine anything worse than outliving your children. His wife Stephanie and their 3 kids and families all had quality time with Mike at the end of his life. He knew he his time was short and they made the best of it. He is now home with the Lord and we will get to see him again in heaven!
Mike and Steph the last time we saw them. At their son Alex's wedding, October 2008

I decided to take the kids to the River Cats game on Thursday evening and asked Margaret if she wouldn't mind having all the kids at her house while we went to the funeral. All four, crazy, bouncing off the wall kids!
She was gracious to accept and the kids had a great day of swimming, playing and slip n sliding! Even the neighbor kids came over! Thanks Margaret, I owe you!
Robbie showing them how it's done!

We left Abby at home because it was going to be a late night, so she and daddy hung out :) We got lawn seats for $7 and brought blankets to sit on. It was a perfect night for America's favorite pastime.
