Mrs. Roberts planned a very fun day for the kids, filled with water activities and just plain silliness. They had so much fun that it was a joy to watch them! The kids rotated to each 2nd grade teachers stations. Our first station was our class. It was a relay race!
Mrs. Roberts explaining how they have to put the bucket of water on their heads after they put on the giant sunglasses, swim cap and flippers!
Matt Adams starting the race...Then Jack!
Hailey's turn
Then Darius. I love Xavier's reaction here! Mrs. Roberts would shake their buckets to make sure they all got wet. Especially if they were trying not to!
Next, Mr. Valente's station. Duck Duck SQUIRT! Jack waiting for his turn.
Duck...Duck...
Then Mrs. Thornton's station. Hula Hoop Wave! This game was super fun! The kids all joined hands and had to move the hula hoops around the circle by moving just their bodies while staying connected. So funny to watch!
My cute little girl came along too! She was having a great time. Compared to the last time she was in Jack's class (Harvest Party) it was like night and day! She was totally outgoing and participating this time. I guess she went and grew up on me!
Free time to just hula hoop!
Jack's got some skills!
Picture moment :)
Next up, Musical Beach Blankets
The kids really liked this game. Wow are they competitive!
Their last game was an Over/Under Sponge Relay
The kids got really wet with this game and they loved it!
Back in the classroom for more fun! Abby showing the Spongebob that Jack made. We called him Spongebob No Pants since Jack was the only one who didn't put pants on his sponge! Of course!
I was there! See!
Can you see the fun little pudding snack with the umbrella in it? Under that umbrella was a little Teddy Graham laying on a beach towel (fruit strip) in the sand (crumbled graham crackers). It was so clever!
Mrs. Roberts got all the kids beach balls so they could autograph them for each other. It was the neatest thing! Here's Darius signing Jack's ball. Pretty soon they'll be signing yearbooks!
Abby even signed a few :)
Emily asked for Abby's autograph. It was seriously the cutest thing! Lots of kids came up to her and asked her to sign their ball and her answer was always, "Sure."
Then they ended their fun day watching The Little Mermaid on their beach towels. Abby made a friend in Emily P. so they watched the movie together. They played together both recesses. I actually wanted to go home when they started the movie but Abby insisted on staying!
It was such a fun day! I'm so grateful to be able to join in on stuff like this and see all the fun things my kids get to do. One of my favorite things is to witness them among their friends, and get to know them too! Only 1 1/2 more days of school!!!
so fun! we do lots of these games at day camp but these have some fun twists on them, so i'm taking notes to share with the day camp staff. (:
