Last Day of 2nd Grade!

Of course Mrs. Roberts had a fun last day planned for the kids filled with movies, playing and saying goodbye. I hoped over to the school for the last half hour to be there when we gave Mrs. Roberts her gift, take a few pic's and say goodbye.

Here's Jack with his best buddies, Darius, Matt and Mason
Abby wanted a pic with her new friend Emily. So sweet :)
Mrs. Roberts made a goodie bag for each kid. Inside was their report card, bookmarks, pic's from the whole year and a book (of course). She had each kid come up and give her a big hug to get their bag. There were lots of tears!

She called up Jack. "Mr. Personality" she said.
 Darius, "Mr. Professional Athlete someday"
She also had them raise their right hand and repeat after her. It went something like this:
-I promise to read over the summer
-I promise to do my best in 3rd grade
-I promise every time I see Mrs. Roberts next year at school I will give her hugs
-I promise to come back after High School and tell her where I'm going to college
more tears...

Then Heather gave her our group gift and told her how we all felt about her. How we just think the world of her and our kids have been so lucky to have such a caring and loving teacher. The money we collected gave her $100 to Macy's and $65 to QT Nails for a mani/pedi!
more tears...

He's off to 3rd grade!
No idea who his teacher will be
but I know she will have a hard time measuring up to Mrs. Roberts!
I'm pretty sure she's going to be at the top of our list of best teachers our kids ever had!
At least we can have her again for Abby :)
We love you Mrs. Roberts!

  1. sounds like a pretty special teacher! those are the ones that our kids will remember forever. we just got a letter in the mail today from one of Jonah's kindergarten teachers. it was so nice and encouraging to our family...it made me cry! (it was hard parenting day so the letter was just what my soul needed) I was just telling steve tonight how blessed we were to have her for kindergarten - and how grateful i am that she "got" him - and brought out his gifts in a way that not many people do. i know that she really truly loved him (challenging parts and all) and that's such a great feeling. so hip, hip, hooray for awesome teachers!!
