Our friend Darrin Boyd is pretty passionate about baseball! Jack is friends with his sons Alex and Aston from FBC preschool and then Awana. Darrin started a baseball ministry to offer a free baseball camp in Elk Grove. This was Jack's second year attending and he invited his buddy Matthew.
They do an amazing job putting this whole thing on! They have tons of cool coaches and older players that donate a week of their time because they believe in it. They invite retired baseball greats to share their testimonies and share the gospel. It's always held at Jan Rau Park (FBC family).
Jack and Matt ready for a fun day! They are in the same group along with Alex. We borrowed the baseball clothes from Darius since we had nothing!
Jeffry, Abby and Sidney came along to pick up the boys! They end each day with an actual game. Jack always wanted us to come early so we could see him play. I have to admit I thought he looked adorable in his whole getup out there on the field! Daddy even saw him play a few times. He left work for a bit and came over to watch him.
Happy boy! Even though baseball really isn't his thing :)
One of the coolest things from the week was all the kids got a bible! Eric hooked them up through the Bible House and gave them a great deal. So Jack got his first bible from Sandlot Ministries! He reads it often for his 20 min of reading each night that Mrs. Knox assigns. I know he learns about God there and I love that that's their focus. May God bless this ministry year in and year out!
