Jack's Open House at school was really cute. The room was decked out in an ocean theme from floor to ceiling and they've been learning all about marine life. We made a starfish for our at home project with sand and a little paint.

I have a lot of respect for Jack's teacher. She started off pretty strict and the kids certainly listened to her. I think she was a good fit for Jack's personality. You draw the line and stick to it and he'll abide by that. I was able to volunteer in his class a handful of times and she was pretty amazing to observe. I was sort of intimidated by her at first but realized she has to be that way in order to control the chaos. It was really fun to see all they pack into 3 1/2 hours! No wonder he comes home exhausted!

Jack doesn't share much about his day ever so it was good to see for myself what goes on so I could ask him certain questions. Like: what story did you read at the listening station?, what activity did you do at the blue table? or who was the helper today?

I really appreciated Mrs. Gravert's philosophy on homework. She told us to never force it and when they're done-they're done. I realize that it won't always be that easy but for kindergarden it was a good thing. They were given a months worth of HW at a time. Towards the end of the school year Jack was getting burned out and flat out didn't want to do it anymore. He even said he didn't want to go to school and that he only liked recess. I thought to myself "geez-it starts already? you've got 12 more years of this kid!"

The year is almost over and we're super excited for summer! Ashley and Brooke are coming and we have lots of fun stuff planned. A trip to WA, camping and lots of parks and swimming! Pretty soon I'll be freaking out because I'll have a First Grader and a Preschooler! Time is FLYING by!
