Flying Solo

Last week the kids and I flew to Washington for Spring Break. Deb and the kids were out of school as well so we spent the whole week with them having all kinds of fun! The main bummer was Eric had to stay behind and work so we missed him and he really missed us!

The other bummer was I had to fly alone with the two crazies that are my kids! That made me VERY nervous! I of course packed a bag of tricks that included a portable DVD player, DS, books, snacks and CANDY! I figured worse case scenario I'd just feed them candy after candy. I have no shame in that. Any screaming, crying, fit throwing kid would would shut it if you shoved a sucker in their mouth! These things are important when you're 10,000 feet in the air!

Needless to say the flight there went off without a hitch. Well, there was one hitch...

Here's the kids getting some energy out before we boarded the plane. Jack was pushing Abby at high speeds all around the empty seating. This is the best picture I could get. It was taken with my iphone and most of them were blurry!
The DS was a lifesaver! Jack was highly entertained AND quiet! Yay for Super Mario!
Abby of course was happy with food! Cheetos make that girl happy :)
Can you tell this is a girl that's wearing paper towel panties?
Yeah, you read that right.
That was our hitch.

On the way to the airport both kids fell asleep. BONUS. That means well rested and non cranky kids. The terminal was next to empty so Eric drove around with them while I checked our bags and got our boarding passes. While unloading the kids we discovered that Abby had an accident while sleeping. Sad day. Since that hasn't happened in months I failed to pack a change of clothes! My bad! We said our goodbyes and went straight to the bathroom to try and clean her up. She was shivering and cold but really rolling with it quite well. We needed to get her wet clothes off but what to replace them with? Paper towel panties of course! We had fun with it and Jack even helped sell her on it! I tried to air dry her little stretch pants as best as I could and we slipped her dry "undies" in there and she was good to go! She was a real trooper! I could never see that going over well with Jack at that age.

That was the worst of it. The flight is only 1 hour and 45 minutes so it goes by really fast. The kids did fine and were very anxious to just get there! They had been really looking forward to time with their cousins!
