Jack's First Day of Second Grade

Here's my little boy looking handsome and big! Wow has he had a growth spurt! He's eating and sleeping like a teenager already! I'm worried for the day that when he actually IS a teenager!

He's sporting his new shoes from Aunty LeAnn (Skechers of course) and his new clothes. Also from Aunty LeAnn.
Not a great photo but I love his little pose here. The backpack was an early birthday present from Abby. It's Ben 10 Alien Force!
I walked him to school since I wanted to get pic's of him in the classroom. I'll be honest. I was a little concerned to see his desk in the very front row across from one of the "naughty" boys. Does that mean he's naughty too? Kacie thinks maybe it's for him to be a good example to said boy. Hmmm good point but I guess I find out soon enough. I plan on volunteering 2X a month again this year.

Jack was greeted with a little sign on his desk that read, "Welcome to 2nd Grade!"
He sits across from Liam, next to Fadwa (girl) and with Tyler as well. He's never been in class with Liam but knows him from the playground. I know of him because of his reputation :(
He came home that day a happy little boy and said he really liked his teacher. I really like her already too! Mrs. Roberts mailed him a postcard over the summer just saying she hoped he was having a good summer and that she was looking forward to meeting him. How cute is that?

I know she's a Christian and a Breast Cancer survivor. I'm so thrilled she's a believer. I believe that's God lookin out for us :) She has been teaching for 20 years. She used to be a principal but chose to get back in the classroom and is much happier there. She seems super organized and I've heard she's the best teacher on campus!

Jack came home with a goodie bag and a poem. It went like this:

Welcome to 2nd Grade!
In this bag you will find objects that represent
how special our class will be. I am excited to share
this year with you!
Hershey Kiss-To remind you that you are special and comfort you when you are sad.
Lifesaver-To remind you that you can come to me anytime you need help or just want to talk.
Eraser-To remind you that it is okay to make mistakes...that is the best way to learn.
Rubberband-To remind you to be flexible
Shiny Star Stickers-To remind you to shine by trying every day to do your best and that we will always "stick" together.
Tissue-To remind you to help dry someone else's tears.
Bandage-To remind you to help heal a friends hurt feelings.
Toothpick-To remind you to "pick out" the good things in yourself and others.
Bookmark-To remind you to read each day.
Penny-To remind you that you are special and valuable to this class and that there is no one else just like YOU!

It's going to be a great year! Thank you God for Mrs. Roberts!
