Micke Grove Zoo/FunTown

Angie and I decided to take our kids to the little zoo in Stockton for the day since both our hubbies work on Saturdays. I actually grew up going to this place as a kid myself. It's just the cutest little zoo and the kids really had a great time!

It was Cotton-Topped Tamarin Day so they had free ice cream, face painting, crafts and exhibits run by high school volunteers. One of the highlights was probably the turtles! They were in several places and the kids loved counting them and watching them struggle onto the rocks.

The four little munchkins!
Two little besties!
The Cotton-Topped Tamarin, the star of the day!
We learned they are a set of twins and their daddy. The mommy died :(

The other highlight were the Lorikeets! They had a large tent full of them and you could buy nectar and feed them. The kids really enjoyed that! Jack really wanted one to land on his arm and eat but it never happened.

Abby was a little timid in there. They were really loud! I bet there were 100 of them in that tent.
I think they both could of stayed in there a long time except the birds were over it! They flew to the top of the tent and stayed out of reach. They needed a little break I guess.

After having our free ice cream and seeing everything, we headed next door to Fun Town. Jack and I were the only ones brave enough for the Tilt A Whirl you see in the picture. I laughed so hard that I cried! That was the fastest, spiniest one I've ever been on!

It was a good way to spend our Saturday. The kids get along great and Angie and I love spending time together too! Having kids the same ages, at the same schools and on the same soccer team give us plenty of things to talk about and commiserate about. The dads are getting to know each other better too since they co-coach the boys' soccer team. We just have to laugh at how parallel our lives are!
