California Academy of Sciences

We decided to make a family trip to San Francisco on Saturday. It was a beautiful day in the city and great to get out of Elk Grove. We picked up Nana from her house and we were on our way. Inside the museum is a rainforest, planetarium and an aquarium. All under one roof!

Jack loved this shark jaw with his metal teeth!
The main attraction is this albino alligator. He's in a swamp exhibit and didn't move the entire time we were there. Not very exciting but cool to see one of these, they're pretty rare.
We spent the majority of our time in the aquarium. They had some pretty neats things that we've never seen before. Like, Upside Down Jellyfish, Flashlight fish, piranha, and a giant 100 year old sea bass to name a few.

Here's one of the many giant Catfish they have there. Jack was showing us how big he is!
Abby likes to get up close and personal
I loved this little giraffe. There were also two bigger ones that wouldn't fit in a picture.
This giant T-rex was pretty cool
There's a wing of dioramas and live penguins. This picture does not due these zebras justice. They are amazingly lifelike. They also had a gorilla, a lion, tigers and chimps. It's pretty cool to get so close to these animals and look at the details. God's creation is amazing!
I didn't get any pictures of the penguins but we watched them get fed. Abby loved it and came home with a stuffed baby penguin.
The kids really enjoyed the hands on experience with the marine life. Touching starfish and other sea creatures. I love it!

My happy boy and future marine biologist :)
We all enjoyed the rainforest but it was too hot for the warm clothes we wore that day. Inside we saw butterflies flying around, bats, spiders and frogs. I didn't take any pictures of those nasty things.
We need to go back again because we didn't make it to the planetarium. All in all we had a great time!
