We spent the day with our new pastor and his family on a beautiful fall day up at Apple Hill. The Beck's are from Redondo Beach in So. Cal so it was quite a change of scenery for them. We never made it up there last year so I was really excited to go!
We decided to go to an orchard where we could pick our own apples, something we have never done up there. Our first attempt at Denver Dan's Orchard was a bust. They were out of apples! But they had llamas. We got to know them for a bit then they told us about another place to try. Sun Hill Farm= Success! They gave us bags and the kids buckets, and we were set free to pick as we wanted.
Jack was a good little picker. He was fast and covered lots of ground. He filled two buckets in like 10 minutes!

Abby was more particular and asked us to reach high for certain ones that she spotted. She even had on her cute apple picking outfit :)

Most of the trees were Fugi apples. Yummy! Nice and crisp!
Abby couldn't wait, she had to enjoy the fruits of her labor!
We ended up with a peck and a half of apples! That's a lot of apples for our little family! I guess we're going to have to make an apple pie :)
We then went over to Kids Inc. Farm and grabbed some lunch and enjoyed the great weather and company. They have a big hill that all the kids loved rolling down. They also have a corn maze, pumpkin patch and beautiful view overlooking the area.
We waited quite awhile for our food because it was a really busy weekend up there. Abby just liked people watching. David, Susan, Eric and I just enjoyed getting to know each other.
Jack and Nathaniel loved wrestling and just goofing around. They're less than 2 years apart and kept each other busy. Spencer liked checking things out around the farm and texting his friends. Typical 13 year old!
We all couldn't wait to get our carmel apples! Here's a very happy Nathaniel!

A group shot taken by our friends the Bradle's who we randomly ran into up there! The weather was just perfect and I think everyone had a great time. We talked about going back together to cut down a tree for Christmas. I need to go back just for an apple donut, I never got one!
This was literally taken 5 minutes after we left. The kids were wiped out after a fun day of adventure!
Sadly all these pictures have a haze in them. My lens was smudged and I didn't realize it till later :(
