Butchart Gardens

We took a ferry from Vancouver to Victoria to visit the famous gardens and spend the night.

Us celebrating 17years!

The Engelharts celebrating 10 years
The Goolds celebrating 8 years
It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the hour long ride from the ferry to the gardens. It was so fascinating to observe the rural living. Trailers with roofs on them and fresh eggs for sale signs all along the road.
We passed thru the town of Saanich and began the long running joke, "Woman, make me a saanich!' "What kind of saanich sounds good?" "I could sure use a saanich!" On and on...

The gardens weren't busy at all. We started with the Sunken Garden and followed the map as instructed. Rain was in the forecast but we got lucky!

The fall colors were so beautiful. We weren't disappointed at all!

Canadians like their hedges. They were everywhere! Radora was so curious to see what they were hiding. Sure enough, it was a bunch of tools and junk. She was right!
Totem Poles are very Canadian. They have them in most parks.

The entrance to the Japanese Garden

There were tons of Japanese Maples, Eric's favorite! They guys teased him for saying how much he loved them and pointed them out wherever they were.
Pond FULL of coins

Star Pond

The famous "Boar Fountain" Ohhh the yogurt jokes! It's supposedly good luck to rub his snout.

Mediterranean Garden outside the main area in the parking lot. This hedge was gigantic!
We all had a great time! I was so surprised the guys enjoyed it as much as they did. We agreed we'd love to come back in the summer when the garden is at it's most beautiful.
Next up, finding a hotel for the night and a place for dinner...living on the edge!
